The food is terrible, either bland or sweet and greasy, with very strange seasoning. The service is also not good, the serving speed is too fast, the first one is not finished yet and the next one comes up, resulting in only being able to eat the whole meal quickly. In the end, they even rush to pay the bill. This is the most infuriating and unfriendly dinner I have ever had, and I hope the restaurant can rectify it properly. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 2

The restaurant was packed when we arrived for our 8pm reservation even though it was raining outside still. We decided to opt for the ala carte menu instead of the set menu because I wanted to choose the yakitoris. Their cheapest set menu is at 880 HKD but I highly recommend ordering ala carte if you’re picky and tbh, it also seems to be cheaper than the set menu. Yakitori Yamato is from Osaka but of course the pricing is much higher than their Osaka counterpart and seems to be a much more premium setting. Skewers starts from 55 HKD and up, and 3 carb options at 100 HKD each. We had all 3 of their carbs as we were still pretty hungry after all the yakitori we ordered, and we even ordered their shrimp and abalone tempura which to my surprise was SO GOOD. Their tempura batter is really light and the shrimp and abalone were super fresh and had a nice sweet taste to the seafood. The yakitori were all very juicy but I did feel quite thirsty after the meal so maybe there’s quite a bit of MSG added to the sauces. Overall the meal was great but the portions are extremely small and I kept seeing other diners order extra on top of their set course so do keep that in mind. Alcohol wasn’t cheap here (about 100 HKD just for a small pint of beer) but I guess that’s normal in HK’s dining scene. In total we spent about 1700 HKD and we could still eat a whole toast from after you close by after the dinner… maybe I’m just a big eater They also undercharged us as the waiter had forgotten to press 2 extra zeros so we were charged 17 HKD LMAO. We managed to pay them back of course but that was kinda lame and at least offer us some discount since it wasn’t actually our fault and calling me after the meal frantically doesn’t seem very nice tbh and I was so nice about it and all I got was a thanks like it was my fault LOL. In conclusion, I do think the yakitori and tempura here is really good but because I didn’t feel full even after spending 1700 HKD, I doubt I’d be back. I don’t think yakitori is suppose to be THIS expensive and at least I’d expect to be carrying my stomach out the door. PS. sweet potato dessert was 100 HKD and they barely gave us HALF the sweet potato… more expensive than gold literally lol! Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5
