Yang Guo Fu Mala Tang is my preferred place to visit compared to another “alpaca” brand. The taste here is generally more flavorful and on point, especially the soup base. The mala ban is also unique and very tasty. The ingredients are fresh and there is a wide variety of options to choose from. This is also not my first visit to Yang Guo Fu Mala Tang across different outlets, and the quality and taste have always been consistent. A special shout-out to a tall male staff member (around his 30s–40s). He is very friendly and attentive. He noticed that I was dining alone and kindly offered me an apron since I was wearing a light-colored shirt. I could also see that he is very approachable and well-liked by many regular customers, including people who work around Plaza Singapura and nearby office workers. Please keep up the great service! A friend of mine decided to try something new and chose mala. The place was clean and quite crowded but the staff were kind enough to clear a reserved table for us. Ordering was straightforward, you select your own ingredients and then head to the counter to place your order. I went for the dry mala, which turned out to be different from the usual stir fried version. Instead, the ingredients were boiled and served with a separate bowl of seasoning sauce. I mostly chose vegetables with just one portion of luncheon meat and personally, I found it rather expensive. The pricing is based on weight rather than the type of ingredients chosen, which I only realised later. The food itself wasn’t exceptional, though it was nice to mix your own dipping sauce and they do offer sesame sauce. Overall, it didn’t quite suit my taste, mere a simple meal but on the pricey side.
