Yantra at Tanglin Mall has become one of my absolute go-to spots in Singapore, and I keep returning because they deliver authentic Indian dishes that feel genuinely elevated and more elaborate than the usual fare. It’s fine-dining Indian done right — rooted in heritage recipes from across the subcontinent, yet refined with thoughtful techniques and niche ingredients that make every bite memorable. What truly elevates the experience every single time is Manager Tim. He’s incredibly knowledgeable and always on point with spot-on explanations of each dish’s heritage, history, and key ingredients. Whether it’s the regional origins, traditional cooking methods, or the specific spices and produce used, Tim turns dinner into an engaging cultural journey that my friends and I look forward to every visit. We always come with a group and love sharing the small plates family-style. The Chaat Banarasi is vibrant, crispy, and packed with addictive sweet-tangy flavors. The Japanese eggplant dish (whether it’s the Shirazi Bharta or Begun Bhaja style) is beautifully balanced and smoky. The tender Adraki Chaamp lamb chops straight from the tandoor are juicy and aromatic, and the selection of flavorful kebabs (including the classic Nizam’s Kathi style) are perfect for passing around the table. Must-tries for anyone visiting: the rich, aromatic Kerala Fish Curry (red snapper in coconut, tamarind, and curry leaves) or their unique smoked version of butter chicken — the Purani Dilli Murgh Makhani prepared without the typical cashew paste. It has this distinctive smoky depth from kasoori methi and cloves that makes it lighter yet incredibly satisfying. The elegant setting, warm service, and consistently outstanding food make Yantra the perfect place for a special night out or a relaxed catch-up with friends.
