Beyond the famous zi char stall known for its signature salted egg dish, this place also serves up an affordable and delicious cai png that’s sure to satisfy any craving. Don’t miss the addictive prawn mee, particularly the dry version it's an absolute must-try, the chilli one really blow you away. A friend introduced me to Xing Xing Xiao Chi, tucked away in the coffee shop unit #01-121 at Block 61 Telok Blangah Heights, I visited on Christmas Day, hoping to try their famous glutinous rice, but regretted not arriving earlier as it was already sold out. Fortunately, I still got to sample their peanut porridge, fried bee hoon, chee cheong fun, and yam cake around noon. The taste was absolutely nostalgic, taking me back to the flavors of my childhood. Each dish had an authentic and comforting quality that’s hard to find these days. What’s even more surprising is the price is just $10.50 for such a satisfying spread! In today’s market, it’s rare to find food this affordable yet so delicious. The peanut porridge, in particular, stood out as a must-try. Aunty Law behind the stall shared that she makes her own sauces, which truly elevated the dishes. Xing Xing Xiao Chi operates from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM, so I’ll definitely make it a point to come earlier next time to try the glutinous rice.
