woo hoo! scored a complimentary steamed kueh lapis when i placed my 4th order for a prune lapis cake. This was a nice surprise. The last time I had something similar was maybe 30+ years ago lol as I had always associated it as a kid’s food. Well. I now have to reorganize my perceptions as it tasted soft, chewy, with just the right amount if sweetness and a hint of saltiness. Easier to digest than mochi, it went well with bitter chinese tea. The prune lapis was the winner among all the cakes thus far. Buttery but not oily, spicy and just slightly sweet, the prunes were generously scattered among many layers. Went so well with black coffee. Thank you aunty for the steamed lapis! Can I interest you to put a chempudak lapis on the menu when it’s in season? Food: 5 Service: 4 Order type: Takeaway Meal type: Other Price per person: $1–10 Recommended dishes: Bika Ambon, Kueh Salat Vegetarian options: Only butter is used, no lard or margarine. This is my 3rd buy. Pandan Ambon. Although the pandan flavour is rather subtle, the taste, texture and smell is so so delicious. Yum. Definitely cannot stop at just one small slice. Food: 4 Service: 4 Order type: Takeaway Meal type: Other Price per person: $1–10 Recommended dishes: Bika Ambon, Kueh Salat Parking space: Plenty of parking Parking options: Paid parking lot Parking: HDB parking. Actually it’s free because if arrive at the time you specified for pickup, entering & leaving carpark is within free pickup/dropoff zone.

My first purchase was a kueh salat round cake. The custard was so smooth, thick and just the right amount of sweetness. The glutinous rice base would have been more sensational if it was slightly more to the soft side. Even after several days in the fridge, it reheated beautifully tasting fresh and yummy. personally i think it could have fed 30 persons easily cuz its so lemak-just a small slice is enuf. My second purchase was the original ambon. hmmmm there’s still a smile on my face just thinking about the softness, the honeycomb texture and that unique taste. Ying Ah is definitely a serendipitous find on Google Maps.
