It doesn't aim for the flashy decor of newer establishments, opting instead for a classic and understated style—making it an excellent choice for family gatherings or formal business dinners. The menu primarily features Cantonese cuisine and Dim Sum, but the undisputed star is their famous Clay Pot Chicken Soup (砂鍋土雞湯). The broth boasts a creamy white color, rich and mellow, full of collagen but surprisingly not greasy. The chicken is simmered until incredibly tender and flavorful. The savory richness and aroma of the soup are truly unforgettable, a testament to its masterful preparation. We also sampled several dim sum items, such as the Fish Roe Siu Mai and the Shredded Radish Pastry. The siu mai was firm and bouncy with deep flavor, while the shredded radish pastry had distinct, flaky layers that were crisp but not crumbly, with a savory-sweet filling that was delightful. Overall, Yu Hsi Restaurant's dishes showcase authentic craftsmanship, and the prices are reasonable for the East District. If you're looking for a heartwarming, classic chicken soup or a comfortable, elegant Cantonese meal, Yu Hsi is definitely a place to keep in mind.
