A few months back I tried this tiny teppanyaki place tucked away in Mei Foo, and I really have to write about it, it was just too good. Honestly, you’d probably walk past it if you didn’t know. The food’s proper good, not cheap, but it’s worth it. We started with the fish balls. Not sure how they do it, but they were really fresh and tasty, kept me picking at them. Then the beef came out. First was the tongue. I’d never tried the centre part of the tongue before, apparently it’s quite a treat. Soft, juicy, and just really nice. The golden snapper was spot on too, crispy skin, soft inside, really flavoursome. For the main beef, we tried both USDA Prime and Wagyu. Both good, but I’m a bit partial to the USDA, tastes a bit stronger. Still, neither disappoints. And the best bit, the garlic slices and the square bread under the meat. The garlic smelled amazing without being too much, and the bread soaked up all the juices, proper clever. Then the fried rice. Already fairly full, but the smell from the wok made me go for it anyway. Soy sauce aroma, plus the slightly charred egg on top, couldn’t stop myself. Finally, a dessert hidden on the menu, teppan toast with sugar. Just bread and sugar, but they nailed it, caramelised just right, sweet without being sickly. Simple, tasty, proper satisfying. All in all, a quiet little gem, tucked away, but if you find it, you’re in for a treat. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $500+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
