Visited Zhang Liang Spicy Hotpot (Mala Tang) in Singapore recently and it was a really disappointing experience. The concept is fun you build your own bowl by picking proteins (fish chicken beef etc) veggies noodles and soup base (we went with the Mala Original). Everything is weighed and priced by the gram and our total amount came to just S$66.45 which seemed reasonable at first for three people. The food itself wasn't terrible the mala soup had decent flavor and the ingredients tasted okay while we were eating. But the place wasn't very clean, saw the staff cleaning tables and mopping floor without glove and going right back to kitchen touching various food ingredients. The real issue came shortly after we left everyone in our group ended up with extreme diarrhea. We're not sure if it was because the fish chicken or beef wasn't fresh or if it wasn't cooked thoroughly enough (or maybe both). Either way it ruined the rest of our day and left us questioning food safety here. If you're really craving mala tang and super hungry it might do in a pinch but I wouldn't recommend risking it again. Plenty of cleaner and safer options around Singapore for similar prices. Avoid if you value your stomach! Price per person: SGD 70–80

Best mala in downtown no doubt. It gives you the mala flavor without your stomach suffering. Literally tried all flavors and all are good! You can tell the quality of the food by how popular it is during weekdays. Price is also more reasonable than Yangguofu somehow. Service is also great. The 100am store manager (Peipei) is so nice always Meal type: Dinner Price per person: SGD 10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
