Looking for a hidden gem in Gyeongju? You need to visit Gyeongju Miso Food! This casual, cozy, self-service shop serves homely, delicious local food cooked right by the owners. It is operated by a lovely couple: the lady boss is the talented chef, and her husband manages the front service, handles orders and any inquiries. Both are incredibly warm, welcoming, and friendly! They also speak simple English, making ordering a breeze for travelers. They offer a simple, humble menu, but the taste is absolutely excellent with just the right portions. What we ordered & highly recommend: Soup Udon – The broth is comforting and flavorful! Spicy Rice Cake (Tteokbokki) – Perfect texture and packed with flavor. According to reviews, other highly ordered crowd-favorites include their Ramen, Korean rolls (Gimbap), and Shrimp Fried Rice. Location: It is located right around the corner from the Gyeongju Express Bus Terminal. Very simple spot for a lunch - short but excellent menu. We had the udon and the shrimp fried rice - both cooked fresh to order. Cash only but was 10,000 per person with a lemon tea so not lots. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₩1–10,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

Not suitable for vegetarians – be careful I came to this restaurant based on other reviews saying there were vegetarian options. Unfortunately, this is not true. No dishes are marked as vegetarian on the menu. The kitchen staff told me some dishes were “vege” or said they could make them vegetarian. In reality, broths and sauces contain fish or meat, even when they claim it’s “vegetarian.” I clearly explained that I don’t eat meat or fish, yet I was served a dish with non-vegetarian ingredients. The cook insisted everything was “bean-based” and even identified a fish cake as soy beans, which is incorrect or shows a lack of knowledge about the ingredients. When I asked questions to clarify, the staff became defensive and unpleasant, making the experience worse. After eating, I felt misled and uncomfortable. If you are vegetarian, I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant.
