Visited Mother's Ruin 3 evenings during a 7-day stay in Shimokitazawa. Seconded other reviews that the staff are well-accommodating for vegetarians and they make a nice highball gin and tonic. They have a few bottles of reasonably priced Negromaro on hand as well :) The place itself is a work of art and in addition to the incredible gecko (or is it a Komodo Dragon?), the glass light fixture/sculptures are not only aesthetically pleasing, they offer a nice, warm and cozy glow. Not a vinyl spinning place but the playlist was eclectically arranged with everything from the Grass Roots to Johnny Cash to Lee Scratch Perry dub-style tunes. Smoke-friendly with an incense-burning to-e-re :)
