Nestled in lovely Chanthaburi, จุ่มมั้ย is an oasis of fine dining, an elegant, cozy place, a restaurant that is the true Thailand, not the Thailand of glitzy tourist advertising campaigns. As soon as I walked in, the gracious owner, her wonderful chef, her lovely staff were standing before me, smiling broadly, eager to help the adventurer explore the East’s culinary delights. The curry and shrimp pad Thai I tried were modestly priced. Their tastes, flavors, and spicing, however, were out-of-this-world. As I walked home through Chanthaburi’s empty streets afterwards, I meditated on the possibility that the Buddhist goddess, Guanyin, must often inhabit the human forms of everyone who works at this sweet restaurant. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
