This is a fantastic place to eat sushi. Everything is freshly made and so delicious. It's a little gem along highway 101 (AH 13) from Nan to Phrae where you should definitely stop to enjoy the best food. Very friendly staff. FANTASTIC JAPANESE food ....a small wooden hut situated on the bypass from Phrae to Nan. Chef used to work in The Ambassador Hotel Sukamvit BKK.... Incredibly fresh, delicious Salmon Sashimi. Found the place after returning from my trip, this place is definitely not looking like a japanese restuarant. It has the stereotype of typical noodles store you'd see. I even thought we went to the wrong place the first time we are looking for a parking lot (the parking is in the house & free). The food are surprisingly cheap for a japanese dish in this country, probably like 2 or 3 times cheaper than the stuff in the shopping mall. I didn't expect anything from it either. We later learnt that the cook was an ex-chef at Bangkok and this restuarant is his post-retirement hobby at his own home. So yes, this is the actually the real deal. Here are the reviews on some of the dish I recommended : - grilled salmon set : superb grilling and the sauce (I'd assume it's the teriyaki sauce) is great. The miso soup that comes with it is also delicious Price : 99 Baht (about 3$) - Salmon sashimi : I do not see this often. But the sashimi is not cold. Nor does it come with any gross texture. There is also side-dish kimchi that is entirely home-made Price : varied by size, starting from 258 bahts (7$) for 200 grams - Katsudon : it's a big bowl. Both the rice and the pork. And that's good Price : 99 baht (3$) - "ส้มตำแซลมอนลืมผัว" (Soam-Tarm-Salmon) or Spicy Papaya Salad + Salmon : great for cutting out the oily-ness from other cooked meat. Price : 120 baht (4$) Overall, it is unexpected yet delicious experience I've found in the countryside. It'd make me wish to meet more place with former professional chef who open the shop as post-retirement work in a rural area.
