Yakitori Funatsuya (焼き鳥 フナツヤ) is a place I’ve visited many times, and it never disappoints. It’s my go-to spot for authentic, high-quality yakitori. The restaurant is conveniently located just a 2–5 minute walk from Toyohashi Station, making it easy to find even for first-time visitors. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming, and the shop is almost always full—clearly a favorite among locals. If you visit, I highly recommend trying the Chicken Sashimi, which is rare to find and incredibly fresh. The homemade Tsukune is another must-try, especially with wasabi or yuzu kosho. And don’t miss the Nankotsu Yaki—crispy, flavorful, and absolutely amazing. The staff are friendly, energetic, and always smiling, which makes the experience even better. Since it’s a popular spot, it’s best to arrive early to avoid waiting. This place is perfect for solo diners, friends hanging out, after-work drinks and meals, and even tourists looking for an authentic local yakitori experience in Toyohashi.
