Not sure what possessed me to walk an hour from Shiojiri Station just for lunch here, but it was totally worth it. The setting is serene and perfect to unwind — I was seated in a booth looking out to the garden, and it seems like all tables had equally privileged views. Everything was well considered, down to the beautiful glassware and ceramics made by local artisans (the latter of which are on sale by the front desk). The whole vibe was more like an entrance to a fancy ryokan, which made the value of the lunch set all the more pleasant. The food contained many seasonal vegetables, and the texture of the goma tofu made me rather happy. Will return if I ever have a car in the region!
