I tried this little restaurant for the sticky rice breakfast with pork floss and pickles and it was not to disappoint. Not everyone likes this Shanghainese breakfast, but it’s really good with the soy milk which they make fresh daily! There are two sweet elderly women who make the sticky rice and you can see making it right in front of the store. My goodness! The warm sticky rice is so delicious with the acidity of the pickled vegetables and the texture of the meat floss. The soy milk has both sweet and salty options. We just got both types and you can share with smaller bowls. Just let the world fall away when you eat this! Honestly half of the sticky rice is filling enough…but I suppose this is an acquired taste and maybe takes some people back to their childhood because it’s not that easy to find in Hong Kong. Many of these older restaurants are not doing so well nowadays. Many of the cooks are elderly people - working so hard and still making these delicious creations. Come and support them - let them know how delicious and good their work is! It’s very old Hong Kong style - but this is what makes it charming and homey. The focus is all on the food.
