My wife and I visited 串焼車 during our honeymoon on Okinawa’s main island. We stayed in Naha on our final night, just a few minutes by train from the airport, and were craving yakitori. This spot ended up being the closest to our hotel and what a great find. It’s a small, hole-in-the-wall, family-run yakitori shop that’s easy to miss if you’re not paying attention to the sign. Despite the language barrier, with some basic Japanese and lots of smiles, the experience felt very welcoming. We ordered several different skewers and every single one was delicious and perfectly cooked. As a bonus, the chef was incredibly kind and treated us to grilled toast and a sweet dessert at the end, which turned out to be baumkuchen, a layered Japanese cake. A must-try if you’re ever in Okinawa, especially if you want an authentic, local yakitori experience in Naha. Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
