The rain poured down on the evening that me and my friends made our way toward this establishment. With the help of google maps, we found the small alley in which this restaurant was located. Were it not for the sign reading 「丸子」 outside, we would have never found this place. Yet, the moment we entered we were enchanted by the interior. The nice woman roaming the quaint kitchen and the two fellow customers we conversed with were an experience we will not forget anytime soon. Though there were not a lot of seats, we were sat down immediately and soon got served an appetizer of egg roll, pickled spinach, some fried meats, and some dried and stir-fried chilies. Afterwards, we ordered three servings of gyoza and one serving of karaage, and it was amazing. The food was clearly made with love and care. Though there were some slight issues with communication, the atmosphere was divine, and the food was amazing. In hindsight, the language barrier might have contributed to us being charged slightly more than what we ordered, but the amount was quite small considering the complete experience. Overall I would say this is a must-go spot in Takayama, if not for the food then for the experience. I give this place a 4.2/5. Price per person: ¥2,000–3,000 Food: 4 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 5
