Having grown up near Happy Valley, it is honestly a bit surprising that this was the first time visit here. Even more surprising was how everything ordered turned out better than expected. The char siu had that old-school style charm — not overly sweet, and nicely balanced without being too fatty or too lean. The roast duck rice also came with a duck leg, which felt like a small lucky win. Flavour-wise it was good, though a bit more roasting time or colour on the skin would have made it even better. The soy chicken leg was another strong dish. Ordering chicken from a siu mei spot can sometimes feel like a gamble, especially when there is that worry about undercooked meat near the bone, but that was not an issue here at all. The chicken was tender, well-marinated, and very satisfying. The shop was clean, and the staff were friendly and pleasant. An extra request for soy sauce and scallion ginger sauce got a very generous amount of the ginger sauce — the soy sauce, not quite as much. Still, a small details in an otherwise very solid meal.
