Amazing, amazing hole in the wall eatery located along Des Voeux Road West between Water and Whitty streets. The best dumplings I've tried in Hong Kong! I have saved this location in Google Maps but only tried it now since it is just a 3 minute walk from my hotel. It's just a small, narrow eatery with 5 tables and run by the kindest aunties (I think they are a mother & daughter team). They will take care of you like you were their child. The Chongqing wontons blew me away. Small but unbelievably delicious (HK$27 for 12 pieces) especially when you put their addictive chili oil before you slurp it down. Their Sichuan Beef Brisket Rice Noodles is also amazing with its strong beefy broth that has a slight sweetness to it; bite sized beef pieces that are tender and bouncy. But it's the broth that will take you to heaven. The following day I came back and the aunties were very happy to see me. I ordered the wontons again and smothered chili oil before each of the 12 awesome bites. This time I paired it with the Dan Dan Noodles which is soup based. Initially I found the broth to be a bit mild but when I started eating it and mixing the entire thing it just became so addictive and yummy. Cleaned out the entire bowl. There's an English menu and the aunties will help you out. There are also many pictures of the menu items on the wall with Chinese and English description so that should not be a problem for visitors. I have been here 2 mornings in a row (I come at 10:30am to avoid the lunch crowd). I would sit on the the first table with my back on the entrance. As soon as my food comes (very quick service here) I slurp loudly along the sound of the trams on the street and the beeps and boops of the pedestrian traffic light right across it. It's a glorious eating experience. Must try when in Hong Kong. Price per person: $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
