There's something special about this place. I looked up many different claypot rice places and eventually decided to try this one as the menu contains many 'classic' claypot rice dishes for $78. As soon as you step inside it's like you have left the noise and bustle of Sham Shui Po and are in some quiet, little village restaurant. The decor is very old but clean. The staff were friendly and happy to recommend dishes. Free soup or sweet soup dessert are often provided (When ordering a claypot rice you get to select one or the other, although they might offer you both in the end). I ordered chicken claws in black bean sauce spare rib rice. It was cooked to order (20mins wait and done perfectly with just the right amount of crispy rice bottom. The meat on the ribs fell off the bone and was not tough or chewy like some places. The toppings were plentiful too. More than enough for one hungry person. Also I didn't detect MSG; The taste was very clean and fresh. In Hong Kong many places claim to have 人情味 or the 'human touch' but this place really has it. The staff really care about serving good quality food at a fair price. I left feeling I had experienced the heart and soul of Hong Kong.
