I followed other’s food/ restaurant review and came here. Quite a long queue during the weekday lunch time. OK, chicken was soft; however it’s below my expectation.

Newly opened in Kowloon Bay before Chinese New Year, 美食天堂 古香雞 is a canteen like restaurant which sells chicken from Qingyuan in China. Hidden inside an industrial building, it takes us a bit of time to find where it is.This chicken rice is definitely worth more than HKD$45! The chicken was smooth, tender and meaty, very flavored and delicious indeed! What surprised us were the pickled radish and fried vegetables. The pickled radish was sour in a way that boosts your appetite, and it went well with the rice. Even though I am not a radish person, I finished them all with the rice. The fried vegetables were a highlight, as they were fried with dried shrimps, which topped up the vegetables a lot!And you must go for this coconut soup with your lunch set, which costs only HK$23 with the set. Soup ingredients included pork and a Chinese medicine thingy. Cooked inside a coconut, the soup was so sweet and nice! It had a strong coconut flavor. Absolutely amazing! Eating tip - the soup is quite hot, remember to cool it down when it’s served by removing the “lid” so that you can drink after finishing your meal.We are definitely coming back again for the soup and chicken!

Took us awhile to locate this gem tuck right amongst a bunch of commercial buildings. Strongly advise Saturday around 10:30 onwards otherwise it will get busy. A small canteen but neat and clean. Chicken is soft but lack a bit of memorable characteristics. The soup (prepared in a coconut) was very impressive and became the highlight of the set! Lovely meal set for a mere $70hkd.
