The moment this bowl of fish soup was served, I realized I was facing a total catastrophe for both my sense of smell and my taste buds. What first caught my eye wasn't the expected crystal-clear broth or a rich, creamy white infusion, but a disturbing, murky ashen-gray—resembling the byproduct of someone accidentally overturning a jar of brush-washing water. A thick layer of oil slicks, shimmering with an eerie, dim light, floated on the surface. Several ragged, poorly-scaled patches of skin drifted in and out of sight, as if silently indicting the chef's sheer negligence. Those fish eyes stared upward, refusing to close even in death, their pale pupils seemingly warning the diner: this is a losing gamble with no hope of victory. As the stench wafted up, my stomach tightened heightening an involuntary revulsion. It wasn't the fresh aroma of the sea, but a complex miasma mingling damp, mildewed rags, rotting water plants, and an extreme, pungent fishiness. This odor rushed mercilessly into my nostrils, attempting to forcibly hijack all my senses; no amount of shredded ginger or scallions could mask that primal, pure "muddy stench." Bracing myself for a sip, the flavor of the broth was simply the sum of all disasters.
