"Time and Space Passing Slowly" Coffee Seorim, or “가배서림” in Korean points to the earliest days of coffee drinking culture in Korea, back when the Emperor Gojeong referred to the foreign drink as “Ga-be” or 珈琲 as it was known in the late 19th century. Opened in December 2020, the café is located in picturesque rural surroundings just 20 minutes from Sejong and Daejeon. Despite being in the middle of the countryside the three-storey industrial style building succeeds in blending seamlessly with the scenic backdrop and surrounding traditional Hanok bungalows. The building’s low profile has been carefully landscaped with stone patios, simple cement walls and miniature gardens throughout to create a peaceful interior environment. Floor-to-ceiling windows are designed to offer a different perspective depending on the time or season while each space is themed with decorative furniture and traditional objects giving the café a meditative gallery-like atmosphere. The coffee line-up at the time of visiting included two single origins for hand drip filter and two blends available for espresso drinks: 1) Guatemala Antigua SHB Washed 100% 2) Ethiopia Guji Uraga Gomero G1 Natural 100% 3) 백야 (Midnight) Blend - Kenya 50%, Colombia 50% 4) De-Caffeine – Mexico Organic Mountain Water HG 100% Behind the Counter: All white set up composed of La Marzocco Linea PB 2-Group, 2 x Victoria Arduino Mythos 1s and a Mahlkönig EK43.
