I truly enjoyed sharing a 세꼬시 (saekkochi) meal with my godson—it was not only a delicious experience but also a memorable one, especially because it was his recommendation. I was genuinely thrilled with the choice he made, from the cozy and inviting atmosphere of the restaurant to the unique and authentic meal itself. At first, I assumed “세꼬시” referred to a specific type of fish, but I quickly learned that it actually describes a method of preparation. In 세꼬시, various types of fresh fish—like 도다리 (flounder)—are sliced into small pieces, bones included, to preserve the texture and flavor. The slight crunch from the bones and the fresh taste of the fish created a distinct experience that was both new and fascinating for me. My curiosity about the dish only enhanced the flavors on my palate. The accompanying side dishes were thoughtfully prepared and paired perfectly with the main dish. To finish the meal, we were served a warm bowl of 지리 (a clear fish soup), which was clean, comforting, and absolutely delicious—the perfect way to round out such a fresh and flavorful meal. What stood out the most was the authenticity of the entire dining experience. From the ingredients to the preparation and service, it all felt deeply rooted in tradition. I left feeling not only satisfied but also grateful for being introduced to a culinary style I hadn’t experienced before. I would gladly revisit this restaurant on my next trip—it’s the kind of place that lingers in your memory long after the meal is over.
