Daon Hanjeongsik was another bucket list spot for me, mainly because I was curious about experiencing a more traditional, refined Korean dining style. We walked in without a reservation, which is usually required, but they managed to arrange a table for lunch. That alone felt a bit lucky, especially as a traveler without a proper local number. We ordered the Songari set, one of the entry level courses for lunch hour, and I was surprised by how the meal flowed. There were many dishes, but it never felt heavy or overwhelming. Instead of bold, impactful flavors, the meal leaned toward subtle umami and gentle preparation. What stood out most was the pacing. Unlike some places where dishes come quickly and stack up, here it felt like the meal encouraged you to slow down and settle into it. It created a really comfortable atmosphere, especially for spending time with family. The overall composition of the course felt well structured. Nothing excessive, nothing rushed. Just a steady, composed progression of dishes that stayed balanced from start to finish. There was a bit of a scramble getting seated at first, but once everything started, the calm dining atmosphere really stood out. It is not something you come across easily these days. It may not be the kind of meal that overwhelms you with intensity, but if you are looking for a more traditional, composed hanjeongsik experience, this is a solid choice.
