I wanted to try some bingsu and thought of supporting this small café. The menu was in Korean, but since I only speak English, I spoke with the owner who fortunately knew some conversational English. I mentioned that I wanted a mango bingsu. I was charged 23,800 won for what I thought was a one-person mango bingsu. After paying and tasting it, I realised it didn’t seem right. The menu actually lists a Jeju apple mango bingsu for two people at that price. What I received, however, was a very ordinary mango bingsu — just shaved ice with milk, fresh mango, and a tiny piece of strawberry. There was no apple flavour at all? When I asked the owner about it again, he insisted that this was what I ordered. I tried to explain that it didn’t taste like apple mango, but he suddenly claimed he didn’t understand English anymore. I even tried using Google Translate into Korean, but he said he still couldn’t understand. It’s disappointing to feel taken advantage of as a tourist. I would much rather have been treated honestly than left with this kind of experience. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 3
