My fiancée and I were craving makchang, so we did a quick search and stumbled upon this hidden gem in a semi-touristy area. What a find. This place felt as local and authentic as it gets — a small intestine specialty restaurant run by incredibly friendly owners, with only about five tables inside. We arrived around 6 PM on a Saturday and were seated immediately, while the other tables already looked like regulars who had been enjoying themselves for a while. There’s a minimum order of one meat per person, so we started with two orders of somakchang. We had tried it at another restaurant before and found it too tough, but this place completely changed our minds. The quality seemed much higher and it was cooked perfectly. Still pleasantly chewy — as the cut naturally is — but flavorful, tender, and absolutely delicious. We later added an order of pork makchang, and that was pure gold. It comes partially cooked, and once you crisp up the outside on the grill while keeping the center buttery and soft, it’s incredible. The side dishes were excellent as well and paired perfectly with the intestines. Most of all, we appreciated how warm and welcoming the owners were to a foreigner looking for a genuine local dining experience.
