The meats were great quality and very tasty, the kimchee was absolutely fantastic, and the service was friendly and very courteous - if you're visiting Jeonju, this is definitely worth having! Adding an English review so that other 외국인s (foreigners) can learn about and try this wonderful restaurant! Nestled in an alley in the middle of Jeonju's Seosin neighborhood is this barbecue restaurant that serves incredibly fresh and delicious cuts of pork that you might not otherwise find in KBBQ restaurants in the US or abroad. Here, you can find the usual cuts of "samgyeopsal" (pork belly), but also "kaburisal" (each pig has less than half a kilogram) and "galmaegisal" (this cut famously tastes like beef, even though it's pork!), which are interesting and uncommon. The restaurant has a cool grocery store style concept, where you pick wrapped packages of meat from the refrigerator yourself to grill at your table once you're seated. As you pick your meats and being to load up your grill, the mother and son who run the restaurant will bring various "banchan" (side dishes) that are typically eaten with KBBQ. This region of Korea is known for the quality of its food, and this restaurant is no exception: the kimchi is fantastic, the garlic is fragrant without being too spicy, and everything has an incredibly fresh taste. If you enjoy the side dishes and finish a plate, feel free to request another portion -- the owners are very kind and will happily bring you a refill. In addition to meat and side dishes, this restaurant also offers other menu items like kimchi stew, cold noodles, and ramen. They are all very affordably priced and delicious -- the kimchi stew is particularly a winner, as the restaurant's kimchi is phenomenally excellent. For drinks, I recommend a refreshing makgeolli, the traditional Korean rice wine. The owner's son kindly explained to us that they stock one local brand, made just half an hour from town, and it's by far the best one we had in this city. if you are in Jeonju and like to eat pork barbecue, please give this restaurant a try. The pork is fresh and doesn't feel heavy, I felt like I could keep eating forever (which is not always the case with pork restaurants). The ingredients and side dishes are all top-quality and convey a sense of local pride. This restaurant is a rare case where we came back to eat at the same place a second time during our short trip to Jeonju. Great food with great service at a great price, I will always remember this restaurant when I think of my visit to Jeonju!
