Best place in Korea! Highly recommend! At first, I was skeptical on how this place can have a 5.0 star rating, but after I've went, i can understand, so let me explain. Takumi worksmanship: After the server sat me down, the chef and the server continued to mind their own business, and I was quite confused as I wasn't presented a menu or other instructions on what to do. After a few minutes, I have realized that they have begun preparing my food despite me not having ordered, this is because the store only sells 1 thing, that is posted on the wall: tofu stew set, for 9k won. This immediately ran alarm bells as not only the price point was below average to nearby restaurants, the fact that the chef has the audacity to only sell one item, and expects the patrons to like it, means that he has put incredible effort in crafting this meal, i.e. takumi worksmanship. And as expected, the food did not disappoint. The tofu stew is 大酱 doenjang style, meaning it has a soybean base. There were ample pork slices in the soup, making it filled with umami. There were also grilled pork slices on the side which were also tasty, along with unlimited kimchi, side dishes, rice. The soup was very high quality, and is among the best korean food I have had in the last 20 years. The whole set being only 9k won further solidifies the cost to performance ratio for this store. Objectively, for this level of takumi worksmanship, if the store was in North America, the chef can charge $20, and people would line up for this place. Yet, the chef has decided to stow himself in a quiet corner of Busan, with some distance to the tourist hotspot of Hae-un-dae, and only opens 3 hours for lunch, 6 days a week. This fully earns my respect, as chef values quality over all else. Overall, Seoul and Busan, has been quite underwhelming compared to other tourist locations in nearby East Asia region, but this store is definitely the top highlight of Korea. If you happen to be in Busan, definitely visit, as it is well well worth the trip. This place fully deserves the 5.0 stars it has.
