I don’t write reviews often, but this place absolutely deserves it. To be completely transparent up front: my family and I were invited to dine here by the owner, Lune, because she happened to be our Airbnb host. However, this is absolutely not a paid or biased review If anything, my party of three—my wife, my son, and myself—approached the meal with high expectations. We are world travelers, and when we are back home in Silicon Valley, California, we casually dine at French restaurants quite often. We know good French cuisine, and La Lune Violette completely blew us away. The Experience & Service. From the moment we sat down, the service was incredibly attentive. Lune took her time to personally guide us through an exquisite prix fixe course menu. The attention to detail, down to the custom crystal paperweights branding their name sets a refined yet welcoming tone. It is a perfect, intimate spot for a romantic date night or a special family dinner. The Food: From Appetizer to Dessert. Every single course that came out of the kitchen was excellent. The culinary progression was beautifully paced: The Openers:We started with a beautifully prepared, vibrant tomato appetizer served over a fresh pesto base The Seafood & Pasta: Next came perfectly seared scallops accompanied by a rich dipping sauce and crisp garlic toast, alongside a beautifully executed white wine cream mussel dish. The pasta courses that followed were exceptional—one a velvety, perfectly emulsified cream spaghetti and the other a robust, deeply flavorful rigatoni ragu topped with fresh parsley. The Mains:The proteins were masterfully cooked. The pork belly course was stunningly plated with precise dots of purées followed by a classic, deeply comforting French pork stew (But tasted and presented like Boeuf Bourguignon) that was incredibly tender and rich The Dessert: To wrap up an already phenomenal meal, we were treated to an absolute masterpiece of a dessert platter. It featured an assortment of house-made mignardises, including delicate madeleines, biscotti, mini choux pastries, rich brownie bites, and elegant panna cotta glasses. The Verdict. Yes, it is located in Seoul's bustling, youth-centric Hongdae neighborhood, and yes, it is pricier than the neighboring Korean restaurants surrounding it. But you absolutely get what you pay for here. For a French restaurant in the heart of Seoul, it ranks incredibly high. If you are a traveler craving authentic Western cuisine, or a local looking for a high-end dining experience that delivers on every front, give this place a shot. Highly recommended. Yummy food, everything was delicious. For lunch, I had appetiser, salad, soup, pasta and dessert. For the salad, tomato went well with the dressing. Lobster bisque was rich and garlic bread is crispy and so thin; scallop (I think it's seared?) is fresh. Crab pasta was so good and flavourful, without being too rich or heavy. Dessert had a variety and not too overly sweet. It was a wonderful meal.
