Stepping inside this traditional Hanok building tucked between concrete structures instantly separates you from the fast-paced energy of the city, surrounding you with the soft, weathered charm of history. Arriving long past the usual lunch rush—a time when most kitchens are winding down—I was met with warm and gracious hospitality as the owner kindly made a table available. That simple act of generosity immediately set a welcoming, heartfelt tone for the meal. Both the North Korean-style dumplings (Ibuk Mandu) and the cold Kimchi noodle soup (Kimchi-mari Guksu) beautifully complemented the tranquil ambiance. Wrapped in a delightfully thick skin, the dumplings were filled with a clean, understated, yet savory mixture that let the natural flavors of the ingredients shine through. There was no pretense, just pure, wholesome comfort in every bite. The Kimchi-mari Guksu followed with equal charm—delivering a remarkably crisp, refreshing broth that was light, balanced, and perfectly paired with chewy noodles. One of the best-kept traditional dumpling soup spots in the middle of the CBD, with a step‑back‑in‑time interior. It’s remarkable to see a pre‑1980s eatery setup among the high‑rises. The dumpling soup is North Korean style, so it’s not spicy (almost no chili). Be quick though — the dumplings run out fast and are gone as soon as the place fills up. I’d definitely come back again. A good navigator helps, since the narrow street feels like you’re wandering through Hong Kong. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₩10,000–20,000
