I previously visited the Magok branch and enjoyed the food, so I decided to bring my foreign friend to the Gwanghwamun branch (located in D-Palace). While I expected a more striking interior given the location, it was relatively simple and modest. We ordered the Abalone Tteok-galbi (Grilled Short Rib Patties) Set and paid extra to upgrade the rice to Sot-bap (Pot Rice). The Highlights: • Seasonal Porridge: The warm mung bean porridge served at the beginning was delicious. • Shiitake Mushroom Fritters: The fried shiitake mushrooms with chili sauce were the standout dish of the meal. • Main Course: The Abalone Tteok-galbi was also very tasty. Areas for Improvement: • Service & Communication: I was disappointed by the lack of menu explanations. It would be much better if the staff briefly introduced each dish when serving. • The Rice: The "Sot-bap" turned out to be more like a Dolsot-bibimbap (stone bowl bibimbap) rather than the traditional pot rice that creates scorched rice (nurungji). While the bibimbap itself was good, it wasn't what I expected from the upgrade. • Takeout Policy: They do not provide containers for leftovers. Given the generous portion sizes, especially for lunch, a packaging service would be a necessary improvement. Tip: The portions are quite large for lunch, so I recommend mixing the heavier sets with some lighter menu options. Meal type: Lunch Price per person: ₩30,000–40,000 Food: 4 Service: 3 Atmosphere: 3
