I honestly couldn’t believe it while writing this — I never expected whale meat in Korea to taste this good. I had tried whale meat once before at a restaurant in Svalbard in the Arctic. They served reindeer and whale, and the whale meat was so bad I almost jumped out of my seat: extremely fishy, dry. That terrible experience made me afraid to try new foods again for a long time But when I came to Ulsan on this trip, I saw so many people recommending whale meat that I decided to give this place a try. And I’m so glad I did. The flavor here was completely different from what I had in the Arctic. The variety of cuts was impressive, and the texture was wonderfully chewy and satisfying. 미미정횟집 (Mimijeong Sliced Raw Fish Whale Meat) is one of the very few authentic Whale restaurants left in the entire South Korea, which sells authentic fresh Whale meat. Apparently, Ulsan is the only city in South Korea that sells fresh Whale meat, and this restaurant is highly recognised on Naver Maps. My partner and I tried their ₩80,000 smallest platter of various Whale meat, and surprisingly, we absolutely loved it. It is expensive for sure, but hey, it is a Whale. When will we ever get to taste Whale meat? I'm sorry to the Whale that we ate, but it tasted really good. RIP Whale Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₩40,000–50,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
