A hidden gem, definitely worth a visit. Hidden is spot on, but definitely go down the dark alley and you will find the best bar in Seoul. Lounge music, an amazing ambiance and delicious drinks will await you. The cozy interior is the perfect mix of an old hanok style house with a modern touch. Super friendly staff will mix you amazing drinks and all speak perfectly English. So communication is easy ;). Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: ₩10,000–20,000

Having just gotten done visiting The National Folk Museum and having some time before we visited Jogyesa Temple, I decided to give this place a try. It sounded like a nice break in the afternoon. It is down a tiny, narrow, set of side streets/alleyways (a common feature in Seoul). Finding it was part of the fun. Clearly, they worked hard to update the outside and inside, even if it was located next to a junction that was a favorite of local workers for smoking who weren’t interested in the packed (with corporate types/suits) open-air smoking section a one hundred or so yards away. The façade was clean and clearly modernized. The interior was lounge-like, with comfy chairs situated around small tables, and accents of wood and glass (and colors that leaned towards blue and grey) that highlighted their selection of whiskeys and other beverages. The only problem for my small group of three? No alcohol is served until 5:00?!?! And I can’t really understand why. That said, the coffees we ordered (Americano, latte, and cappuccino) were all good enough. The pricing was fair. The service was a bit odd/standoffish. I realize we are goofy Americans. But the lady who served us seemed more interested in not waiting on us . . . and there was no one else in there! No offer of another round of coffee. No offer of snacks. In fact, for a good portion of our visit, she simply disappeared. I guess you could suggest that we got a chance to feel like we were having coffee in a closed business down an alleyway. But the effect was underwhelming. So much so that, as it approached 5:00, we just decided to pay and leave after thinking that the initial atmosphere might make it worth our while to sample a few of their alcoholic selections. I am bummed. This place has real promise with tourists, given its location (both in a popular area and also feeling somewhat like a secret) and the way it is designed. But the lack of alcohol in the afternoon (we were on vacation, so don’t judge!) and the customer service were strange (putting aside the language barriers which are, to be clear, on us and not on the server). Will I visit next time? Maybe. Perhaps the after-5:00 vibe is decidedly different. All I know is that I won’t come back here simply for the coffee and the look of the place. Service: 3 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: ₩1–10,000
