My very first meal after arriving in Korea turned out to be one of the most memorable. It was a comforting bowl of seolleongtang, a traditional ox bone soup that felt like a warm welcome after a long journey. The flavor was surprisingly light, yet deeply rich at the same time , a delicate balance that’s hard to describe unless you’ve tried it yourself. The broth, simmered for hours, had a milky appearance and a clean, subtle taste. It wasn’t overwhelming or heavy, but it carried a depth that made it incredibly satisfying. What made the experience even better was how customizable it was. Adding a pinch of salt, some pepper, and pairing it with rice and kimchi elevated the flavors beautifully. Each bite felt nourishing, almost like comfort food designed to restore both body and mood. If I ever return to Korea, this is definitely the first dish I would look for again.
