Visited on 21 dec 2025, arrived at yeongsil entrance at 7.50am, pee for last time and start the easy hike. It is not a tourist area where you pay to get a service. You work for your photo. There is a shop that sell last min gear at parking/entrance area, you can get socks, mask, and last min basic stuffs for your hike. It is a hike, not climb. It is basically 96% staircase hike up to the next toilet (at the top way point) We are not fit, and we slowly hike up step by step. Old aunty may take 2.5h and yes a-lot of them. What I learned: Each person bring bottle of 400ml of 100plus or gatorade will do. No need 1 liter bullshit. chocolate bars help. Pace yourself, it will take 2 to 2.5h hike with slow pace, and some photos along the way. If it’s snow there may be icing which is slippery and danger. On the top, there is warm toilet and there is NO water to drink or wash hand. NO drinks or food at the top. There is a warm hall for sitting and many people eat cup noodles there. Yes they bring their hot water, and bring down their own trash down! Not allowed to pour soup into toilet. 4g mobile is very strong throughout. Took me 2h to hike up, and 2h to descend. Took a-lot of video and photo while descending hence was slow. Wind is the brutal, hands were freezing as if dip entire hand into bucket of ice water! So Wind breaker and glove is a must. Mask helps alot too with cold nose and lips. Hold the ropes along the trail. There are 3 short sections with brutal wind that can blow you off your feet and it is damn cold. Being early is good. Parking fee is krw1800, there is no entrance fee. Atmosphere: 5
