In a bold regeneration project, the team behind Owol School have brought together an “A-Team” of designers (Z_Lab), landscape architects (Slow Pharmacy) and professional carpenters (BPlusM) in a collaboration that has revived this quiet section of Chun-cheon forest. Originally built as a school in 1969 it was eventually closed in 1982 before being used as village hall, church and finally, in October 2020, opening up as a luxury accommodation, dining and café venue. Taking care to leave the building in its original layout, each of the buildings in the large 575 SQM area have been carefully renovated to maintain an authentic vibe. Some features of note include the original timber roof trusses in the main building, along with the folding doors and partition walls made from recycling the original floorboards. Owol School serve a range of espresso drinks with desserts in the converted assembly hall of the school, using two blends by Seoul based roaster “Four B”: 1) Cherry (Notes: Juicy / Sweet) 2) Oak (Notes: Nuts / Dark Chocolate) Behind the counter: Synesso MVP Hydra 3-Group and Dalla Corte Evo 2 espresso machines with two MAZZER Robur grinders.
