Pure Soul Food, Unbelievable Hospitality, and Metabolically Perfect! We stumbled upon Won Daegu-tang (원대구탕) on a busy Friday evening around 6:00 PM without any reservations. The restaurant was already quite full, but the moment we walked in, the lady boss’s radiant, smiling face completely warmed our hearts. Even though it was a tight squeeze, she kindly accommodated us and tucked us into a super cozy corner seating area. Exemplary Hospitality: The lady boss speaks a bit of English and took the time to personally prepare our cod fish dishes, patiently explaining exactly how to enjoy the fish with the accompanying dipping sauces. Soon after, a lovely, friendly auntie came over to mind our pot, making sure the fish was boiling beautifully to absolute perfection. Generous Portions & Incredible Value: As whole-food lovers who appreciate offal and functional nutrition, we requested extra fish livers and fish eggs. To our utter delight, the lady boss gave us an enthusiastic "Okay! " and brought out an unbelievably massive portion. The main dishes were only 39,000 won, and she charged us a mere 13,000 won for the extra mountain of rich, nutrient-dense livers and eggs. The affordability for this level of quality and volume is simply unmatched! The Ultimate Whole Foods Experience: We are incredibly mindful of what goes into our bodies and absolutely love clean, whole foods. The soup here is phenomenal—pure, deeply nourishing broth cooked down with plenty of fresh greens and bean sprouts, entirely free of weird additives or artificial ingredients. To elevate the meal, we paired the boiling stew with a bottle of their high-quality, traditionally fermented rice alcoho. As someone who closely monitors metabolic data, I was thrilled to see that this clean, additive-free fermentation paired with zero refined carbs kept my insulin completely stable. My glucose levels comfortably cruised between 5.0 - 5.5 mmol/L after the meal. Absolutely perfect! If you want authentic, pristine soul food managed by the kindest women in Seoul, do not skip this legendary corner. We will be back!
