Best Gamjatang in Hongdae – Warm Food, Outstanding Hospitality I visited 원조감자탕 일미집 홍대점 on four consecutive days (May 28–31), which says a lot about how much I enjoyed this restaurant. My first visit was with my boyfriend and siblings, and it immediately became one of the highlights of our trip. The gamjatang was incredibly comforting, delicious, and consistently flavorful. The mild spice level was perfectly balanced, giving the soup warmth and depth without being overwhelming. On that first visit, Mr. Sunho Kim (I hope I spelled his name correctly), who appeared to be the manager, team leader, or owner, was exceptionally kind, attentive, and generous. He was always smiling, very pleasant, and consistently respectful in his interactions. He offered us complimentary fried rice to include with our meal and also helped us enjoy the gamjatang with noodles, with drinks included in the set. His hospitality immediately stood out and made us feel very welcome. My second visit was with my sister when I was feeling quite run down, and the warm, hearty soup was exactly what I needed. It genuinely helped me feel better. My third visit was with friends, who also enjoyed the food and atmosphere. By my fourth and final visit, I made sure to take some away because I knew I would want it during recovery, and I was right. What impressed me most was the consistency—not only in the food but also in the service. Every visit delivered the same delicious flavors, comforting experience, and warm hospitality. As a visitor, I also appreciated being treated with the same level of respect and attentiveness as the local customers. We were seated promptly, looked after well, and always felt welcome. Mr. Sun Ho Kim and the rest of the staff created an atmosphere that felt cozy, genuine, and memorable. Their kindness, professionalism, and consistency made this restaurant stand out from many others I visited in Korea. The restaurant is also very affordable considering the excellent food quality, generous portions, and outstanding service. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Hongdae. The fact that I returned four days in a row speaks for itself. If you're looking for authentic, comforting gamjatang and exceptional hospitality, this is a place you shouldn't miss.

Gamjatang is my all time favourite. This place is my first meal in Seoul and I was so pampered. There is a staff can speak fluent Chinese so I was so relieved. Very flavourful gamjatang and add instant noodles as ending. The owner of the store is super friendly. Will definitely come again! Meal type: Dinner Price per person: ₩30,000–40,000 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
