I know I am not Korean, but I have probably been to over 100 쌍화차 places in my life. You start to recognise which ones are made from powder and which ones cut corners with ingredients. Here, you can taste the care and tell that it is made fresh daily. I was also excited to see that they serve 십전대보탕, which is not as common. For other foreigners- this is an ancient medicinal tonic made from ten herbs such as peony roots and red ginseng, meant to boost your energy and recovery from fatigue. Perfect if you’re feeling tired from a long day of sightseeing It’s also a little less sweet than the 쌍화차, which I prefer. If you’re foreign- be brave and don’t be put off by the entrance- the timelessness is part of the joy! Its authenticity is the perfect antidote to the LED lights and macha cloud lattes that dominate the high streets. The owner is beautifully kind and has run the shop for over 35 years. First of all, I strongly recommend tourists to Korea. This is a teahouse where you can feel unique Korean characteristics. The main menu is Ten-eighthood and Ssanghwadang. They also give me carrot juice as a side service. Must visit place!!
