Local take-away cafe spot in Daegu's retro Sam-deok central district. The renovated building that houses Ee Cafe (finished August 2020) was carefully designed by owner and barista Taekyung Sung, who runs the cafe with his wife and golden retriever "Bo-ri" (보리). One of the unique aspects of Daegu's cafe culture is it's earlier than normal opening times. While most cafes in Seoul open around 11am, Ee cafe, just like Roller Coffee and Sounds Coffee, open at 8am. Local coffee consumers in Daegu also seem accustomed to a wider range of lattes including 5oz, 8oz, Piccolos and Flat Whites, as opposed to the standard Cappuccino or Latte fare of typical Seoul menus. Ee Coffee in particular is popular for it's Lattes, priced competitively at only $3 and made to perfection on their Slayer espresso machine. While most people drop by for a takeaway the cafe also has seating inside and on the small outdoor bench area. Aside from the attention to detail with the furnishing and sleek minimalist layout, two items in particular come to attention in this small take-out cafe spot: 1) Glass Slayer 2-Group espresso machine (USA, Established 2007) / One of only three versions in this custom build in South Korea 2) Rare vintage Japanese Sansui SP-Z9II Vintage Speakers (300 Watt) Opting for small farm single origins, Ee Cafe had the following coffees availble at the time of visiting: 1) Papua New Guinea Baroida Estate, Morita Small Holders, Arusha K7 Variety, Altitude 1850m, Washed 2) Ethiopia, Hadeso, Odo Shakisho, Guji, Ethiopian Heirloom Variety, Altitude 1850-2050m, Washed
