Ehwa Samgyetang in Jeju is one of those places that gives a truly authentic Korean dining experience, especially if you want to try traditional samgyetang. The signature dish is served in a thick stone bowl that arrives bubbling hot on the table. Inside is a whole young chicken stuffed with glutinous rice, ginseng, garlic, and jujube dates, slowly simmered until the meat becomes tender and easy to pull apart. This traditional Korean dish is especially comforting during cold or windy weather in Jeju. What makes the experience memorable is the balance of flavors. The broth is clean, light, and soothing rather than overly heavy, allowing the natural sweetness of the chicken and the herbal aroma of the ginseng to stand out. The sticky rice inside the chicken absorbs the broth beautifully and becomes soft and flavorful. The restaurant itself feels warm and traditional, making the whole dining experience even more authentic. Watching the steam rise from the stone bowl while enjoying the cold Jeju weather outside creates a very memorable experience. Some dishes are not only about flavor, but also about warmth, comfort, and tradition—and samgyetang in a steaming stone bowl on a chilly Jeju day feels exactly like that. The Samgyetang is delicious with a reasonable price for the portion size. The Kimchi in this place is particularly delicious. Went here with wife and daughter and they were very nice. BIG plus point is that the owner speaks and understands English very well. In the end there were only empty bowls and bones left.
