The bartender at Rock was sharing his local dining recommendations around Busan. He said just before we head back to Seoul, we should go to Bonjean Dwaeji Gukbap right across from Busan Station because they serve the best pork rice soup in town. Well, my husband and I did make the effort to find the place only to discover an endless snaking line in front of a packed space. Fortunately, we just sauntered next door to this nearly empty spot with a name that translates to ‘Best Hapcheon Pork Soup’. We aren’t connoisseur enough to say it was the best soup, the second best, or even the worst, but we liked the food just fine. We ordered the KRW 9,500 Pork Rice Soup and the KRW 10,000 Intestine Rice Soup with a welcome KRW 13,000 side of Steamed Pork Slices. Rice, lettuce leaves, and a robust collection of banchan dishes nicely complemented our bowls of Korean comfort food. The service was quite attentive. No regrets with our decision.
