A Lesson in Wasted Time: Not Worth the Wait, Not Worth the Trip We visited this establishment today after seeing it widely recommended across social media, expecting an experience that justified its reputation. What we encountered instead was an egregious disregard for guests' time and a deeply flawed operational system. After securing our place in line, we waited a reasonable 45 minutes outside. However, upon finally being admitted—believing our wait was over—we were seated only to be made to wait another 50 minutes inside. Nearly an hour and a half of our day was entirely squandered. If a queue management system gives a guest a designated turn, trapping them inside for an additional fifty minutes is not hospitality; it is systemic negligence. If a venue cannot match its seating capacity to its kitchen output, it should properly manage the queue rather than treating guests as captive waiters. As for the food itself, it is profoundly ordinary. The sole marginal distinction is that the meat is slightly more tender, but otherwise, it offers nothing you cannot find at any standard establishment. The price-to-quality ratio is entirely unremarkable. Speaking both as a diner and as a professional chef, this experience was deeply unfortunate. While I can understand a focus on domestic clientele, the operational failure and blatant disrespect for people's time are inexcusable. This place is not visitor-friendly, and I cannot recommend it to locals or tourists—especially tourists, whose time is severely undervalued here. It is an easily forgettable establishment, save for the bitter taste the experience leaves behind. It is simply not worth your time, your money, or a single minute of your day. Tonshou Gwangan was absolutely worth the wait. Even after waiting nearly two hours, the quality of the food made it completely worthwhile. The pork cutlet was incredibly tender and juicy, with a perfectly crispy coating that stayed light and crunchy until the last bite. You can immediately tell how much care goes into the preparation. The meat was exceptionally soft and flavorful, easily one of the best tonkatsu experiences I've had. Every part of the meal, from the sides to the sauces, was well executed. If you're visiting Busan and wondering whether the long line is justified, the answer is yes. The wait can be long, but the food more than delivers. Highly recommended for anyone who appreciates great tonkatsu.
