辛い食事に食傷気味になった舌とお腹に優しい冷麺です。 正午に着いて20分ほど階段で並びました。 清潔な店内でゆっくりといただいたあっさりスープの冷麺は期待以上に口に合いました。 置いてあるお酢はかなり酸味が強いので入れすぎ要注意です。 カード払い出来ました。. Food: 5 Service: 4 Atmosphere: 4 Price per person: ₩10,000–20,000

When I visited Gyeongdong Market Pyongyang Naengmyeon, located on the second floor of 4 Wangsan-ro 29-gil, Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul, it was well past the peak lunch hour. Expecting a quiet atmosphere, I was surprised to find a long line extending up the stairs. Waiting for over 20 minutes was a striking testament to the restaurant’s stellar reputation among both market locals and culinary enthusiasts. The wait naturally heightened my anticipation for the meal ahead. Upon taking a seat, I faced my first disappointment: the renowned boiled pork (suyuk) was completely sold out for the day. While missing out on the dish was unfortunate, it served as a fitting excuse to plan my next visit. Any lingering regret quickly evaporated as the rest of our dishes arrived at the table. The dumplings (mandu) commanded immediate attention with their overwhelming presence. I was amazed first by their grand size, and amazed a second time by the rich yet clean, perfectly balanced filling upon taking the first bite. Generous and authentic, each dumpling made up for the absence of the suyuk in the best way possible. The main attraction, the Pyongyang cold buckwheat noodles (naengmyeon), offered an exceptional harmony of generous portion, subtle flavor, and remarkably affordable pricing. The clear broth delivered a gentle yet profound savory tone, pairing seamlessly with the tender, earthy texture of the buckwheat noodles. The overwhelming value and classic market hospitality left a lasting impression throughout the entire meal. The 20-minute wait was worth every second. Although I must return another day for the pork, the massive dumplings and the soul-soothing bowl of naengmyeon perfectly showcased the genuine charm and depth of a true market staple.
