The soup is a mashed potato base, and floating inside are these little round potato dumplings called ongsimi. I tried both the menu options — one with ongsimi only, and another with ongsimi plus buckwheat knife-cut noodles — and honestly, the ongsimi-only version was way better. The dumplings had this incredibly chewy texture, and the warm, creamy soup was just soul-warming. Really impressive. For a side, I ordered the susu bukkumi, which turned out to be a kind of dessert — red bean paste wrapped in a buckwheat dough and pan-fried. That was delicious too. The meal starts with a bowl of barley rice, which you’re meant to mix yourself: add a little yeolmu kimchi and shredded radish that come alongside it, then spoon in some gochujang from the sauce jar and toss it all together. There’s an original flagship location, but the wait there tends to get pretty long, so I went with this branch instead — and the food was just as good. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4
