I visited Hyangwonjeong Yang Gopchang in Hapjeong. I was looking for a good restaurant to visit with my child, and since this place was featured on a TV show, I had high expectations. Since they had chadolbaegi (thinly sliced brisket), I thought it would be a good option for my child as well. I enjoy gopchang, so I decided to order both grilled gopchang and gopchang jeongol (hot pot). We started with the chadolbaegi, so my child and I could eat together. The meat was nicely marbled and tender, making it easy for my child to enjoy. The owner was very considerate towards children. They even provided a bowl of gomtang (beef bone soup), which had a deep and rich flavor. My child loved it. The service was excellent. I was excited about the grilled gopchang, but it was a bit disappointing. I prefer gopchang that is full of fat, but this one didn’t have much and was a bit chewy. The reviews said the gopchang here was amazing, but in my opinion, the jeongol was much better than the grilled version. They grill the gopchang for you, which is convenient, but the texture didn’t quite meet my expectations. The gopchang wasn’t as satisfying as I had hoped, but the chadolbaegi was delicious. The gopchang jeongol was much more enjoyable than the grilled version. The broth was rich and flavorful, making it perfect to eat with rice. Even though I was already full, I couldn’t resist ordering gopchang fried rice at the end. I left the restaurant feeling completely satisfied. Since Hyangwonjeong was featured on the TV show Tasty Guys, there were posters and eating tips displayed all over the restaurant. They had guides on how to enjoy gopchang properly and recommended combinations, which made it easy for first-timers to enjoy the meal. Looking at the posters while deciding what to order added to the fun experience. Hyangwonjeong Yang Gopchang in Hapjeong is a great place with delicious chadolbaegi and friendly service for families with kids. The grilled gopchang was a bit disappointing, but the jeongol was fantastic, so I would recommend that instead. If you love gopchang, you might be more satisfied with the jeongol rather than the grilled version.
