I finally tried AMMAKASE, the world's first Indian omakase, and it was an amazing experience. The name itself is a beautiful mix of "Amma" meaning mother, and "omakase" meaning "I leave it up to you" in Japanese. And that's exactly what you do here. There is no menu and you just trust the chef and let him surprise you. My partner and I had the 8 course dinner, and every dish was creative, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The menu changes regularly too, so there's always something new to discover. We were served by two waitstaff, Tiru and Bijith. Tiru was incredibly knowledgeable and really understood the food and ingredients. Bijith was very attentive throughout the meal. Both made the experience even better. The highlight of our experience was the Lamb Reverie. It was so juicy, tender, and bursting with flavour, cooked to absolute perfection. It was an intimate, immersive, and truly memorable dining experience. I can't wait to go back. Had one of the most unique fine dining experiences at ammakase recently. The concept of Indian Omakase was something completely new to us and the execution was honestly impressive. Loved how there’s no fixed menu and the entire experience is thoughtfully curated around your dietary preferences, making it feel very personalised and exclusive. Every course was beautifully plated and inspired by different coastal regions of India & Sri Lanka, while still carrying familiar flavours in such a refined and modern way. The pani puri sphere was such a fun and memorable start, and every dish after that kept surprising us with the textures, presentation and balance of flavours. Beyond the food, the ambience felt elegant yet welcoming, and the hospitality truly stood out. The staff were warm, attentive and made the entire experience feel comfortable and unhurried. They also have a beautiful private dining room which would be perfect for celebrations or corporate gatherings.
