What a gem on Naoshima! I discovered this charming bar because I was wandering through Miyanoura and stumbled upon a coffee truck that the owners of this bar operate in the day time. I came to the bar intending to have a pre-dinner cocktail but stayed for dinner because not only do they have incredible craft cocktails, but they also have food — including nibbles such as savory house-smoked mixed nuts and homemade truffle fries as well as more substantial offerings like their house speciality: chicken and rice that was prepared to perfection. I had the best espresso martini of my life here — carefully crafted with coffee-infused Japanese whisky, Spanish sherry, and freshly pulled espresso shots. It was so well balanced! I also tried an Old Fashioned with an Irish peaty whiskey, and that, too, was made with precision and absolutely delightful. I ended my cocktail journey with a Scotch Collins which was also perfection. The bartender, Yusuke, and the entire staff were warm, kind, and welcoming. There are counter seats as well as tables for larger groups or more privacy. I cannot wait to return to Naoshima and plan another visit here. Note also that they have a location in Tokyo in Roppongi. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Vegetarian options: Delicious house-made pickled vegetables, homemade truffle fries, incredible smoked assorted nuts that are smoked in house, and pizzas.

Really amazing bartender, he is so knowledgeable and kind. The bar snacks are one of a kind. We came here every day during our 4 day stay in Naoshima. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This place.. :) Having come from the ear ringingly loud Godz in Tokyo (the local doom metal outfit put on a great set) I was looking forward to walking round a gorgeous art filled island and maybe have a few drinks and a bite to eat. Within moments, I realised I'd found my new favourite bar. Lit like the infamous Overlook, "all work and no play" I decided on the "Ba-na-na" cocktail to get things started. It's like an alcoholic banana smoothie; quality rum, strong, and very very tasty. My host, bartender and chef extrordinare, recommended his special chicken and rice. How good can a bar meal in remote Japan get? "Up there with the best meals I've ever had" good! :) Served with x3 very delicious dipping sauces, a dark soy/etc, fresh ginger and lemon etc. and a hot sauce; the chicken melts in your mouth.. As the bar slowly begins to fill, French seems to be the language of the evening. Though Brazillian and Belgium guests are also here.. I'm Australian, so it's a great mix of words complementing the smooth jazz background ambience.. If you're here in Naoshima, this remarkable little bar is literally a 5 min walk from the ferry dock. Do yourself a favour and check it out.
