Walk past Kreta Ayer Road, Teck Lim Road, Keong Saik Road and you'll reach the end that is Bukit Pasoh Road. From entrance of Bukit Pasoh Road, walk down the row of conserved shophouses on the right side, and you will find Baker's Bench cafe. Decor ***************. Baker's Bench Bakery features a simple, homely, and minimalist decor. The interior is described as having a Scandinavian style, utilising wooden furnishings, muted colours, and pendant lights. The ambience is designed for comfort, with a focus on creating a cosy, inviting, and relaxing environment. Food **********. Baker's Bench Bakery offers a menu focused on handcrafted sourdough and artisan breads, alongside a selection of danishes, croissants, and sandwiches. I ordered 2 items for takeaway: ***********************************. Portobello Mushroom, Wild Arugula & Zhug Sourdough Pita (SGD10) = 2 halves. This delicious pita sandwich came in two generous halves, filled with juicy portobello mushrooms, fresh wild arugula, and a bright, herby zhug sauce.️ The sourdough pita had a pleasant chew & was light and fluffy, and the flavours blended nicely — earthy, fresh, and lightly spicy. Zhug = let me describe this sauce. ****************************************. Zhug is a Middle Eastern–Yemeni herb sauce, often used in Jewish cooking. It’s like a spicy, green pesto made with fresh herbs ( usually coriander), chillies, garlic, and spices. The flavour is herby and savoury--- adding a nice kick to the pita. ️ I love it. It's my first time trying this Zhug sauce. Lemon Drizzle Pound Cake (at SGD5) ***********************************. The lemon pound cake was moist & dense in a good way, and had a lovely citrus aroma. The lemon drizzle on top added a refreshing piquant tang that balanced the sweetness well. Service = The service crew at the counter kiosk area were friendly, pleasant and efficient. I paid by Visa for my 2 items and the experience was smooth and fast. Thank you for the food and hospitality. ️ 19th Nov 2025 Wed.
